Button Polyp vs Toadstool

I have about a 2 month old Toadstool that's been closed for a week (yeah I know fairly normal). He was closed up a few weeks ago for a few days and then opened back up. I noticed my button polyp colony was closing in on him but not actually touching him yet. I am going to frag them tomorrow but am curious if they would affect him by just being close.

they very well could i would think. My toads didnt seem to care for my buttons much and i think they actually killed them somehow a long time ago haha. But other things that i know that my bigger leathers (toads and fiji yellow) dont like are green stars and mushrooms.

Also, is 8.5 just a tad high for pH? I'm sure its fine if its consistant, but most people i see have it between 8.1 and 8.4 i think...
