Button Polyps/Brain/Mushrooms

In Memoriam
I have a rather large colony of button polyps (Protopalythoa sp.) directly next to the left of a brain (Trachyphyllia geoffroy), which is directly next to the left of about 5 sm.-med. red mushrooms(Actinodiscus sp.). The button polyps as of late have been budding and encroaching to the point of touching the brain. Should I move the brain? I've read that button polyps are semi-aggresive and don't want anything to happen to either of them. Also, I've read that brains prefer sandy bottoms as opposed to live rock (where it is now). Thanks for any advice.

Button polyps can and do spread aggressively. I would move the brain. Also my brain coral has somehow by some miracle survived when my tank crashed on 10-2-06. It looks better everyday. I have it on the bottom of the tank laying on the substrate and it seems very happy there.

How big of tank and what kind of lighting do you have? How high up in the tank is your brain right now? Are you going to have enough light at the bottom of the tank for the brain?

I moved it about two hours ago and it's already puffed back up (the portion touching the polyps was shriveled), so far so good. FYI-60 gallon, (2) 10000k daylight, (2) actinics (260 watts total).

Here's the section of tank where the occurence...is occuring.

Close-up (empty spot between polyps and 'shrooms is where brain was)

Sounds like you have the same set up as me. I have a 60 gallon tank with 260 watts of PC lights. Looks like your brain is happy now.
