Buying fish in the wrong order based on aggression

So I currently have 1 clown and a hawkfish in my reef tank. In my QT I have a *tiny* pink streaked wrasse, and a yellow wrasse coming in the mail.

Considering how shy the pink streaked wrasse is and how yellow wrasse are also fairly docile, I'm slightly concerned about the hawkfish causing trouble when they're added. Once I add the wrasses to the DT should I just put the hawk into my QT tank for a few days? Or should I just try to put either the hawkfish in a peacemaker?

Putting the hawkfish in your QT is a good idea. Giving the new fish a chance to get established in a new environment without harassment is critical. You may consider trading it in for store credit, if you plan to add more small fish. It's always going to be nippy, and really a better choice for a more aggressive fish tank.

Thank you, to the QT he will go!

I've heard a lot more about longnose hawkfish being bullied versus the other way around, so I was shocked to see him give my clownfish flack when he gets too close.

My flame hawk is a fiesty little guy who demands his personal space and defends his favorite "perches". Small but mighty.
