Buying used tank advice needed, other setting up questions

I'm interested in getting back into a reef tank again, after my disaster with my 90. I made the mistake of walking into an aquarium store which followed by me driving all over town finding aquarium stores and looking back into the wonderful world of salt water aquariums.

Well I've learned from my mistakes, don't take any shortcuts, cause it'll just cost you 10 times more in the end.

Anyway, with my 90 gallon I bought the tank, stand, canopy all new and pretty much all the equipment was thru here or ebay (some was new but not much). I've found a nice 120 gallon with a stand and a few extras,

The only issue is the tank is about 6 years old and has a crack on the side (scroll down and you'll see a few pic of it). The tank is still currently being used (its filled with water) but the issue I'm wondering about is is there a cut off age with buying used tanks? Is it just not worth buying a used tank?

At one of the aquarium stores they have a new 120, pre-drilled in two spots both with return valves. The tank above has only one pre-drilled whole. I believe the store wanted about $350 just for the tank, which doesn't seem bad and probably will be the route I'll be taking.

I was just wondering about how the filtration will work with two returns and two incoming to the wet/dry etc. Do you have two filtration setups or do they just lead to the same input in the end.

Also if some can explain or provide links to great articles talking about sumps, refugiums. Thanks in advance.

well first off welcome back to the saltwater world,

usually with a tank leaking the problem is around the seals, the crack obviously isn't bad enough to cause a leak. With that being said its always scary to buy a used tank especially one with with a large crack on the side. if you can it obviously would be in your best interest to see it in person.

As far as links the best way is to simply put up a search for refugiums on this site.
