well i have once again slighty altered my nano plan to include only my 17 gallon tank , so far my equipment list looks like this:
17Gallon 24"x12''x12''
Coralife AquaLight PRO Metal Halide HQI - 1 x 150W @ 14k
digital thermo meter
refractometer
salifert chems- ammonia, nitrate, nitrite, ph, alk
seachem chems- reef buffer, reef builder, trace elements
salt- just what my LFS carries
now other then LR and LS all i need is my fiklter of some sort or something for cirruculation... and this is where i could use some adivce... which of these HOB filters would be the best from my 17 gallon, or would i be better off just getting some powerhead and get some extra LR for filtration.
here is the link for HOB filters that are resonably priced and power heads, i just want to know what you guys suggest form a hob filter or souhld i pick up a small contain to make a sump?
and if you have anythning else to add please feel free.

hob filter power heads

as far as hob's go the aquaclear 110 makes a great fuge and with luck the light spilling over from your halide might be enuf for a clump of cheato.

i swear by the fuge, theres no better friend to the nano reefer.

and maybe a small rio 90 or 180 for a tad more flow, of course that might be overkill

wow really? i would think just the 500GPH from the aqua clear would be way too much in a 17G... but i guess that would allow for a larger fuge? because i was thinking of the same brand, just a smaller modle. but i guess they have sort of a waterfall effect so it spreads the flow out over the entire tank?

If you make the aq110 into a fuge, you'd place baffles in it which would slow down the flow quite a bit. You can also cut some of the fins off the impeller.

I'm using a 300 gph aquaclear with no modifications on a 10 gallon tank. I just can't have the fine substrate where the flow hits the front of the tank.
