c-sea is down?

I noticed that the site is going to be deleted in a "few days" unless someone pays $35 for one more year. The thing is that it would remain "owned" by whoever set it up or currently owns it, and you probably would require some minimal cooperation from them to transfer it to a new person. In other words, anyone can pay it with a credit card, but this only brings it back up under whoever was running it before, and I think we might have a new webmaster after the election.

We do have a new webmaster, elections were last friday.
I said that, but I guess it didn't read the same way it sounds when you say it. Amy Van Sickle is the new webmaster. Paul Cimino was last year's. As is posted in other threads here on the topic.

Just an update It appears that the Domain transfer is in the final stages and hopefully the site back up within the week. Thanks for everyone's patience.

Dan, you said this
and I think we might have a new webmaster after the election.
Not that we do have one and that the election was last friday.
Oh well

Ok, I'm here! Paul C and I haven't been able to hook up yet, do any of you have some gifs of jpg's of the logo's and such? I'm trying to get started with dev work on my PC prior to the site being transferred back.

btw Dan, I need to purchase some insect books (I've got 2 Violin Mantis's on order!! :) )

Oh well. It's all in the inflection. I guess I wrongly assumed every one had read the previous posts about the election results and knew we had a new webmaster. Anyway, it looks as if the website will soon be back up.

Carole sent me a couple pics last night, one of the blue/green animated gif (octo clinging to the 'C'), and one of an octo used for the t-shirts. Any others that folks have by chance also?

Also, I'm still collecting ideas for what folks want on the site, so just brainstorm your wish lists here if you could.

thx..

A page with information for new members, or at least a good map with directions to the meeting building, info on parking, description of what to expect at an average meeting, how long they last, etc. I'd like to make it easy for potential new members to decide if they want to come and then to find us.

Something useful to all of at some point still, but really helpful for the beginning reef/marine aquarist would be a glossary of reef/aquarium terms.

Also a pictoral identifier with a brief text entry for soft corals, hard corals, invertebrates, and marine plants/macros.

A virtual shop hop.

The three items above have an added benefit in making our site come up for more people doing a web search. Maybe they just come to get the definition of a reef term or a name for that weird shrimp thing that showed up. Maybe they just wanted to know if shrimpthing was friend or foe, but maybe they will stick around or if they happen to be in NE Ohio, drop by a meeting.

A photo record of our recently past meetings. Not only sharing or documenting useful stuff from the talk, but identifying some of the members so that each of us can begin to recognize more people and even connect them with their web alter egos.

Thanks all, great ideas that I'll incorporate everything in that people want. I will have to solicit help (ie, someone can build the glossary and I'll add it, stuff like that)

I'll look at the old sites. I have already started looking at building a forum for us, and the different software, and will be playing with that this week. It will still be another week or so before the site has transferred back to us, but, I hope to have some content ready when the 'door' opens again.

Dan, the YEARBOOK! That is what I want, member photos that you can then click and see more of their tank info and such. And, yes, meeting pics would be fun too, we can spread that job around if I bring my digi, so others can take pics too.

I'm hoping that I'll be able to use John J's meeting minutes each month to post about all discussion points.

Thanks and keep them coming.

I think the site is having problems. I went back and tried to manually enter it, and got the same result. It was working last night. Not much help, but it was kinda interesting.

EDIT: It is a problem with the website. The link should work once they get the problem worked out.

Is this the correct link ? I get a "Page cannot be displayed" error when trying to open it.
It's working now, but some of the individual pages this links to may not be working. Most are good.
