I have been thinking about getting a C. Temmincki. They seem to have some variation in coloring or some of the pictures are a lot better than others.

Does anyone know if there is a huge variation in coloring in the different regions they are found. Thanks for any insight.

I'm pretty sure it's the lighting that effects the colors on the fish. Males and females look different though. I believe males have some yellow or blue neony stripes and females don't.

It is actually believed to be a complex of 3+ species, of which only one has been described, so temmincki from Japan, Indonesia and Coral Sea are all different.

Thanks for the info, I did read an article last night about this. That would explain the variations I have seen in the pictures. Now I guess I can try to sort them by region and see which one I prefer.

That is what I was thinking at first but then I was noticing actual differences on some of the fishes.

I have seen three physically different color varieties. Unfortunately, I do not remember where they were brought in from.

Thanks Steve, I am still researching I have found a couple articles on them. I believe the trick will be to find one from the region that I would like.
