I have a calaustrea that has two polyps. How long should it take for more polyps to grow from these originals? Do they split directly from the original polyp and then grow away from it?

It should pinch in towards the center of one of the polyps to make 2. Depends on how happy they are (light, Ca, food)

they seem very happy. What would be an estimate?

Feed them and it should be under a month.

Ideal water conditions, feeding, proper light and so forth it will be splitting in no time. Cyclopeze seems to work real well in m endevors.

It took mine about three weeks before it started splitting. I was feeding it about 2-3 times a week, which I've heard helps quite a bit. Now, it's actually starting to split a second time, and it hasn't even completed the first split.

Yah once they are used to your tank, they really tank off. Mine splits about 2 heads a week now. I frag it in half monthly.

Would it be the same situation with torch coral?

They won't grow as quickly.
