Calc & Alk

Hello everyone
I have a new Crocea clam 3-4 inches.

Whats the recommended product for Calcium and Alk?

AquaC COMPLETE - Balanced Calcium and Alkalinity

1) has anyone used this?
2) why is redsea CA test SO much cheaper than seachem or salifert?

i'm trying to keep my clam happy and i know light, alk, and cal are the most important.
if there are anymore things to keep it happy, besides stable water params, please let me know. also, i'm not running my skimmer 24/7 anymore so the clam will have some nitrates to feed on.

any good 2 part ca/alk supplement will do. i would stay away from the all in one additives. the red sea test kits are cheaper because there not very accurate, go with the salifert.

you need to keep an eye on Ca/Alk and Mg they all work together and should really be looked at as one.

i would contionue to run your skimmer 24/7. no matter what your test kits say, im sure there is plenty of nitrates for the clam

looks like a good read, i'll get into it. thank you mbbuna as always.

also, whats the deal with phosban and carbon? how do they affect the clam? i have a small bag of phosguard in there, might add chemipure soon.

its just a hypothesis right now. but i believe some clams have a protozoan that can be excited by free iron in the water(phosban, rowa, trace elements)and carbon can help adsorb the iron. phosgard is aluminum based
