Calcium 455 to 465

I'm wondering what causes calcium levels to be this high considering I don't dose and do 5 to 10 % Wkey h20 changes....I have about 8 corals in my 90..some acros . 1 acan gsp, recorded and pulsing xenia...
My corals grow slowly imo..
Alk is at 8.9

Some salt product mix up to levels like that. That'd be my first guess. Have you measured some freshly-mixed saltwater? Maybe the container of salt mix settled badly during shipment.

I don't find that high at all, I am running 460 ppm forever.
Sometimes testing can provide different answers.
My corals grew slowly until I reduced the flux in all 8 major areas to the min.
Example, in any one day, at at any time, Alk is 160ppm with a flux of 10 max using a doser
So I did this with temp, nutrients, salinity.
After 6 months this way, growth was clearly more, easy to see.

I dont dose tho, and i just tested a new 5 gallon batch and it was like 500, i think that batch of reef crystals is bad

It could be, but you may consider waiting 24 hours after mix to test.
40 ppm in calcium variance is not a concern to me.

Hopefully your not using the Hanna Checker for calcium, the test is too small for accuracy.

I was unable to ever get a stable number from IO or RC, it was suggested to remix the dry in case of settlement.

In the end, I gave up and found what I believe is a very consistent product and stuck with it forever, a good salt will mix on point every time.

Which salt is that?

Red Sea Pro.

Also mixes clear in an hour and leaves the container clean.
I pay a bit more but this component + water is the most important in my system so I don't want to go the cheap route.

I mix for the full 4 hours and heat to DT as instructed, then wait 24, test just Alk and CA, then deploy.....very consistent IMO.

500 for RC is a tad high but wouldn't bother me. If your tank is 455-465 and your water change water is at 500, that sounds about right if you're not dosing and you're tank is not using much cal/alk.
