calcium build up

I have been having calcium build up in my pumps enough to cause them to stop running lately. What am i doing wrong here, or is this just normal with proper calcium levels? My calcium is at 420 ppm and i use limewater for top off. I never had this issue before, but i also never really kept up with my calcium levels in the past.

Hey Dugg I had the same problem when I dripped limewater. Try to make sure you don't drip the powder itself just the parts dissolved in the water. If you don't have any algae problems you can add some vinegar to help keep the buildup down.

I use a sediment filter to keep any particles from going through, but i'm sure it doesn't stop all of it.

I don't have any algae problems, and don't want them either lol. How much vinigar, and what will it do for algae having vinigar in the water? Also how will vinigar effect the PH? I already fight a low PH problem due to ventalation in the room my tank is in.
