calcium diy

Havent used that exact product, but I've used other snow melt products (prestone driveway heat) and know many other reefers who buy similar products.

What I suggest you look for --
1. Percent purity. I've seen people succeeding with >=94%.
2. Other listed ingredients. Sometimes it lists MgCl2 or NaCl, and I skip those products (I'd prefer to control Na and Mg independently of Ca)

The very large number of different ice melt products on the market certainly makes it a little challenging to figure out if brand X works for reefing!

I haven't seen that one either, but people are successful with a wide range of calcium chloride products. I'd check the purity and work from there.

according to SDS
Calcium Chloride 83-87% 10043-52-4 233-140-8 [Xi] Irritant R36
Water 8-14% 7732-18-5 231-791-2 Not Classified None
Potassium Chloride 2-3% 7447-40-7 231-211-8 Not Classified None
Sodium Chloride 1-2% 7647-14-5 231-598-3 [Xi] Irritant R36/37/38

It's fairly similar to the older Dow Flake, as far as calcium chloride goes. It might be safe, and I have heard of very few problems with calcium chloride products, but it'd take a lot of expensive testing to be sure that it's safe.

Use the clear jug container prestone driveway heat , its pure calcium chloride . I have been using for 8 plus years.
