calcium is good already?

I went on a search to get the ingredients for randys 2 part system. Since I live in FL it took a bit to find the CaCl. Anyway I headed home and I measured my calcium with an aquarium pharmacueticals test (I wanted the salifert but didnt feel like driving an hour to get it). My results show that my calcium is already at an appropriate level. 400 +

Is this normal to have a god Ca level without additives, is the test bad, or am I just lucky??????

Currently the only hard coral that I own is an orange monty.

Im kinda disappointed b/c I wanted to make the mix after running around all day.

Thanks
Craig

depending on which salt you use its highly possible to have normal calc levels when theres not alot of demand for it from your tank.

What brand of salt are you using? Some brands have a high level of calcium in them. I dont dose anything for calcium and my levels are 450-500 so there is no need (as of yet). I use IO salt. When you end up with more calcium depending corals they will use it up and there will be a need for dosing. I do frequent water changes and that is why mine stays high.

yep i use IO too, and since I only have one calcium demanding coral I guess im fine....so much for running around all day

btw-how often do you test for Ca??
