Calcium Media replacement

How often do you replace the media? My MRC manual states to replace every 4 to 6 months.

I replace mine when it has gone about 3/4 down the way, but it is all going to depend on the media you use and the type of reactor you use.
In my case the media is always tumbling inside the reactor so the media exhaust fairly evenly throughout, I had reactors in the past that the bottom of the media became muddy and need to be replace completely before this happened.
