calcium oxide / quicklime

I thought I would get some calcium oxide, or quicklime, to use instead of regular kalk powder because it dissolves more easily. I understand it produces a lot of heat on contact with moisture and must be handled carefully. Anyway, this stuff is hard to find unless you want a truckload of it or want to pay through the nose to get it from a chemical supplier. It isn't something carried by hardware or gardening stores.

Warner Marine is the only company offering it for the aquarium trade, AFAIK. While I'm sure I could order it from any of their dealers only Reef Geek stocks it. It's about $9-10 a pound, which is much better than what the chemical suppliers are charging but a far cry from what a 50-lb bag of Mississippi Quicklime goes for.

Am I crazy to try to buy this and should just stick to regular calcium hydroxide powder? Does anyone know of a source in the SF Bay Area?

Thats nuts. You can just use mrs wages, you can buy it at Krogers for $2.50 a container. Super Cheap, works great!
