Calcium part for Randy's 2 Part Mix

I've been using the stuff from Bulk Reef Supply for my Calcium Mix.

In dosing a 180 some of the cost savings in my DIY 2 Part is mitigated by the shipping cost of 5 gallon containers of bulk calcium.

I have seen a few people using Prestone Driveway Heat as an alternative to the Bulk Reef Supply Stuff. I just wanted to propose it here and see what the responses were.

Prestone calcium chloride de-icer has been used by hobbyists without apparent problems. ;)

The Prestone is an industrial grade calcium chloride product which has unknown contaminates in it. It is not tested for the contaminates. So it may be fine to use. Industrial grade calcium chloride contaminate levels can change from one part to another part in a mine not to mention from mine to mine. ;)

The BRS calcium chloride is pharmaceutical grade (food grade) which is tested for contaminate levels. Industrial grade calcium chloride is put through more expensive refining processes to remove contaminates and assure the final product meets food grade standards, so it will cost more. :)

I agree that Prestone seems to work well enough. It has more bromide than the older version that was tested, though.
