Calcium reactor any suggestions

Gasman, the Procal is regarded as one of the best American made reactors and I had one, it worked great, this reactor is my second choice.
A deltec 601 will be my first choice, I currentely use one and it is far superior in performance than the pro-cal. I think currentely this are the top choices for reactors.
Let me know if you need more info

I have heard nothing but good things abotu the schuran and MRC reactors also. All calcium reactors work on the same principle. Any calcium reactor you buy will work as long as it is big enough to handle your calcium demand.

I was looking at the MRC CR-1 i think there smaller model rated for up to 250 gallons, you can also get a regulator and another piece of equipment as a deal

Any opinons on MRC skimmers? they are also reasonably priced

I have an MR-2 with dual injectors and a 12" riser. I absolutely love it. It is easy to adjust and performs great. It does take more maintenance than other types of skimmers (cleaning the column and injectors), but I feel it outperforms all skimmers in it's price range (and most skimmers out of it's price range). If you do end up going with the MRC skimmer make sre you use a pressure rated pump.

I heard nothing but good things about the Schuran, so I picked one up. I can confirm the build quality is excellent, but I haven't used it yet. I plan to set mine up over the holidays (but I've said that before, too). :D

I have had a Lifereef for about 7 years, and it still works flawlessly. just routine maintenance.

While we're talking reactors, what pumps are you guys using to feed yours? I purchased a Cole Parmer, but it was the economy drive and I found it to be louder than I wanted to put in my living room. So, I sold that one and I'm looking for something else. I need something quiet, relatively small, and adjustable speed covering 30-100mL/min.

when you say pressure rated pump, you mean match the skimmer to proper reccommended pump? the dual injectors ar elike 40 bucks extra i assume the 40 bucks goes a long way.

Take apart the unit and the pumps maybe once every 6 months and remove buildup with a vinegar soak.

I use ARM and have for years.

I'm planning to use the large media sold by aquatic eco for Schuran reactors. It's more like broken coral skeletons than crushed coral, and needs a slightly lower pH to dissolve. As such, it's much harder to accidentally turn it to mush when you're setting up a reactor. I think I remember reading that it was lower in phosphate than some of the media out there (someone did a test on this a few years ago).
