Calcium Reactor Experience

I do but i will not be in town till Labor day weekend and i could help you then if no one here is able to. And what brand name Calcium reactor did you buy.

I haven't purchased one yet. I was considering going with a Geo. Do you have a brand you would suggest?

I no i use the Korallin 1502 but would not buy one again the one that is getting good reviews is the MRC dual reactor calcium reactor and am emailing a buddy about where he got his and will get back to you on where to buy one he has gone through a few calcium reactors he even had the one i have and had nothing but problems and he said this is the best one and a lot a people are saying the same thing.

Hmm...definitely keep me updated. I was looking some at the Korallin brand. I will check out the MRC reactors now.

I currently have a GEO. I previously had a MRC. I like both reactors. Never had a problem with either of them. I had the MRC CR-1. I currently have a GEO 618. The build quality of the GEO is nicer and it has the PH port on it. I know you can get that as well on the MRC's.

I see no problem with either of these designs. Just personal preference, and if you can get a better price on one of them.

I am also running a GEO kalk reactor with my topoff.

I am looking at buying the GEO 612 from an individual used because it appears to be priced right. Do you think this model will be big enough for my 90 gallon plus a possible 30-50 gallon frag tank in the future? Also, do you run your reactor with a controller or on a timer?

A 612 model should be just fine for that setup. I just got a deal on the 618. Only reason I am running one this large.
I am currently not running it on a timer or controller. I just set the drip rate and adjusted the bubble count to get the PH down to around 6.7.

Not since I got the reactors hooked up. Before, I was trying to drip kalk at nite, but am just too lazy to do this every day, hence the reason for the Kalk reactor. I have my setup going pretty slow. Don't realy know if I need both or not. PH us now usually around 8.1-2. Before I got these hooked up, I could hardly get above 7.9.
Much better for me, since I get kind of busy, and don't get to spend alot of time managing the tank. Just fill top off container and clean the glass, and walk away.

It is an awesome setup. I was glad he hosted one last year to show it off. I hope we can talk him into doing it again ang get more people to see his tanks.

I am in Warsaw if you want to come out sometime and see it.
I hope to have a couple of more toys hooked up this fall.

Since the last meeting, I have picked up a used RK2.

I also need to move some of the equipment around so that I can fit the recirc GEO skimmer in the stand.
