calcium reactor for a 30 gallons...

i've been toying with the idea of adding a calcium reactor to my 30 gallon tank... i do not have any plans of getting a larger tank... i am happy with the 30 gallons... right now, i am dosing a 2 part additive... the tank uses about 3.5dKH alkalinity per day with an equal amount of calcium...

i do not know anything about calcium reactors... how long does the media usually last...? is there any special Co2 tank that i need to get...? where do i get the Co2 tank refilled and how long will it last... also, how do you deal with the potential of having a low PH without having to add another kalk stirrer...

would i also need to have a sump to have a calcium reactor...?

coral sea calcium reactor w/ pump, a 5lb co2 bottle, silenoid and controller. When dialed in correctly, it should last relatively long and cover all your calcium/alk needs quite well.

btw, I got my co2 bottle from a local place (PRAXAIR) which is a welding supply shop. There is also beverage and medical grade of co2 so I'm sure you could find results with a search there too. I have to get my bottle refilled about every 6 months and it runs about $20.

because i thought a kalk stirrer will only dose as much as what i top off per day... the tank only evaporates half a gallon of water per day... i don't think that is enough evaporation for the kalkwasser to meet calcium/alkalinity demands of the tank...
