calcium reactor problem

My flow rate is extremely erratic.

I start with a decent drip back to the tank, and after a couple of days it slows down then stops I must adjust daily.
My alk and cal is all over the place.
I am using a rio 150 from the sump to the reactor and them drips back into the sump.
Any suggestions?

Have you tried cleaning the needle valve which controls effluent flow? Also, this valve should not be fully closed to completely shutoff the flow of water - this can damage some needle valves. You might also check your inlet and outlet lines for 'U' shaped bends which can collect air, as well as checking for blockages as previously mentioned. GL!

Make sure you are not getting any blockages in your pump as well. Check for chaeto or other organics that can get stuck in your inlet.

If you want to solve the problem once and for all get a controllable peristaltic pump like a cole-parmer masterflex.

Does one have to use a non return valve on the input for the effluent as the water siphons out of the reacter when the pump is switched off. The reason Im asking me busy hooking up my Detek PF601 up. Also I have a Saga solenoid not closing when switched off, there still gas leaking. Can it be stuck and what should I do?
