The Schuran is rated for "up to 800" gallons, and I have seen them used on tanks bigger than mine. That said, it really all depends on sps density and growth rates. I picked the schuran mainly because of its compact layout. My tank consumes ~1dKH daily, which I'm pretty confident it will be able to keep up with. I think the Schuran is able to be small because they use large media and much lower pH in the chamber than typical designs, which allows for a more concentrated effluent.
My biggest hesitation with setting it up has been the pH drop that will come from the CO2 - I run on the low side to begin with. Plus, any phosphate that may be released from the media, I may also need to add a phosphate reactor to the system.
