i have a 75 gallon tank thats been setup for a couple years and i was bit by the sps bug and to keep up with calcium demands i was thinking of adding a calcium reactor. which would you recomend? of course i want something that will last, but price is extremely important to me. i cant spend 400 for the setup it'll have to be less than that. thanks in advance

If you don't have room for a CO2 tank, maybe you should look into a dosing pump with CA and ALK supplementation via the 2 part solution.

Check ReefKeeping magazine for a recipe.

What are you doing now for evaporation and Ca/KH maintenance? I think that would make a difference in helping you plan the future of your tank.

for evap i do kalk most of the time and sometimes i add calcium builder and sometimes i just add freshwater.

szeth13 - Look around for a quality system for sale used, this will save you some money. Just remember that good things aren't cheap and cheap things are seldom good. Buy one piece of the system at a time as money is available.

mbierzyc - Can you put the Co2 tank in a remote area from the aquarium, like a closet nearby, then run the hose along the base molding to the reactor?

How often do you need to replace the CO2 tanks? Is it better to use a calcium reactor or a doser such as litermeter III using the two part soltion?

I just picked up a fairly new GEO 618 with tank and media that has been running up until I picked it up this afternoon for only $400.00. The deals are out there you just have to find them.
