Calling all elegance coral owners..

Ok so I just got a nice Aussie cultured elegance coral from Pacific East - great shipment from them! Highly recommend.

The coral is attached to a frag plug so I can put it anywhere easily. I put it to start on the sand in a corner and it opened up nicely.

My question - I gave it some mysis shrimp and it acted like it was going to eat...and then attack of the Nassarius snails! They swarmed from the sand and tried to climb up the plug. Ok, so I put some pellets out to distract them but it was less than ideal to say the least.

It looks like these corals eat as fast as any other (SLOWLY) - so how do you guys keep the snails off them while you feed?

Thanks for the advice!

You could get yourself a Tupperware container and punch some holes in it. Once you feed the coral, just drop it down over it.

Huh, is that a cut frag of a elegance? The side looks flat and with hard corners, like it's been cut/fragged.

It looks nice and health/happy; with nice extension. PEA is a great vendor.

I wouldn't worry too much about the snails (are they larger than the coral?). The elegance packs a powerful sting with its nematocysts, so if the snails get too close they should back off once stung.... or sometimes they get eaten lol

Glad to hear you guys had nice experience with PEA, I have been considering order from them but hear mixed results. This is a nice frag, would love to see more photo from you as it grows!

It does appear to be a cut frag - the sides are very straight - looks really nice to me, but this is my first. That pic is after only a few hours in my tank.

Thanks for the info!
