calling large tank owners

getting ready to start my 180 build but not sure how i should build my stand 2×4 2×6 how high etc. any help you guys can give would be much appreciated also anything you change or do different pics would be much help thanks

All of my stands are made with 2x4s... that includes my 240, 135, and my frag/QT rack. Pretty much made the same way, with two frames, one under the tank and the other on the floor, then back to back 2x4s in the corners and in the middle supporting the two frames. one of the 2x4 supports is cut to go inbetween the two frames and the other sits behind that support and the frames to keep it in place. Everything is screwed together for easy dissassemble if it should ever need to be. I use drywall screws actually, but I would recomend stainless if you can get your hands on them.

Make sure its tall enough to give yourself access to the sump and skimmer you will be using....

The early pics which just have the embedded links show some good detail of the construction. I could never replicate this quality of work but as a carpenter, I'm guessing that you could. Chris is a great guy and would probably respond if you PM'd him. I think that he spends most of his RC time in the Richmond Reef Club forum.

There is also another huge thread on here called the stand calculator or something along those lines. It's got information on probably 100 different stand builds.
