i read a conversation you had with anthony calfo about the closed lop manifold, you were saying you werent planning on drilling the tank.
did you ever setup the closed loop without the drilled tank? how did it work? i just bought a sequence dart but my tank is already filled and i cant drill for the closed loop inlet... hindsights a *#&%!!

I did use a CL {Dart and OM}, but i feel that there are some downsides, at least in my opinion.

I have since dismantled the CL, since i used over-the-top style plumbing, i am now using Tunze Streams.

Here are the downsides i found

1). My suction from the Dart CL, killed several fish including a special mandarine fish, which was eating pellets and frozen brine shimp, and a Copperbanded Butterfly Fish

2). The suction/water flow pipes under water would constantly, need cleanings.......ANNOYING

3). The watts on the Dart were prolly double what i am pulling now and i was pushing less water :(

4). Although the flow alternated it was NOT random by any means. Tunze streams do this much better IMO, with the Multicontoller, of course :)

5). The plumbing apparatus was ugly.... i guess so are tunze streams, but they are easier to clean and somewhat hide.

6). With CL pumps you have constant maintenance issues, like impellar cleaning, which means dismantling pumps and pipes in awkward speace, behind the tank.

7). The Oceans Motions 4 way was horrible to dismantle for the above reasons, and the fact that when it did gum up (due to Calcium, Alk, and Magnessium deposits) it was a bear IMO Twice in 6 months.

8). I really don't want anymore unnecessary holes drilled in my tank, they are failure points and prone to salt and water creep.

So for my needs the Streams were the choice for me.

Hope it helps

But i guess to answer your question it can be accomplished with simple plumbing parts from HD or Lowes.

There used to me some neat posts about over-the-top CL plumbing be i cant seem to find them, and my pics of the CL i deleted a long time ago.

But this is a shot of my tank at infancy, you can see the CL comming from the top of the tank

i really apreciate the detailed reply one thing is left for me to pick youre brain about, you did not drill any holes in the tank? even for the pump intake? can i see a shot of the tank with the streams in it for size purposes?

=) thanks fot the info it was a big help, oh ya and what was youre outlet size and number and how much you think you got out of each outlet. maybe i can avoid making a mistake on size and number of outlets. thanks again, btw you still selling frags?

IIRC, 2 inch suction and 1.5 outflow>>>>to OM 4 way 1 inch {four outputs}

For the suction use wye plumbing fittings over the rim of the tank

As far as Stream pics, there are tons you can find here on RC :)

Yeap always selling frags :), your welcome to stop by
