i have a canon rebel eos. digital , was trying to take some night shots of the storm and lighting . it some how auto sets it self to a long expose shot. in the dark. trying to find where i turn the sensor off so i can shoot in the dark. it also will not do continuous shooting to catch the lighting bolts. can anyone help me with this

I just got a Rebel T2i the other day, still learning so this is a shot in the dark (no pun indented) but did you try to take it off AF and put in on manual focus to see that does anything?

Set the dial to M (Manual exposure). For those of us weaned on all-manual SLRs, this control should feel familiar. It lets you manually set aperture and shutter speed. Twirl the dial right behind the shutter release to change the shutter speed. Turn the same dial while pressing the AV (EV control) button to set aperture. Check exposure accuracy in viewfinder or on LCD panel.
