Does anyone know how to take good coral photos? I've tried 3 different cameras & apparently I'm not smart enough to figure it out! I'm so frustrated at this point! I have a bunch of frags to sell & I need help! I have Blastos, Hammers, Candy Canes, Ricordeas, Green Shrooms, Purple Shrooms, an Orange Shroom, Rodactis Shrooms, & lots of Polyps. If anyone local wants to see them in person PM me. Thanks!!

What kind of cameras have you used? I know my Droid 2 cannot take actinic shots the blues mess with the camera.

Byron...I will call you! A class would be awesome! Thanks!!!

Tommy...It's a Sony Cybershot DSc-W530. It's 14.1 Megapixels & 4X Optical Zoom. Thanks!!

i was going to give some basic filter ideas (im no pro either) i would check with byron lookin at his site he knows what he is talking about!

J Bones not to jump off topic, but wanted to let Byron know I would be interested in a weekend class for sure.

I teach how to effectievely use a camera and how to correctly frame an image... what one then does with the knowledge is up to them :)

Interestingly most of the images of my tank build have been captured with an iPhone (because I'm lazy and it was in my pocket)... in the studio I use Canon equipment - 1Ds & 1D pro bodies... but the concepts are true for any camera.

I'm just bringing my tank up now after being without since 2006 so I havent been capturing any in-tank images in years -- close to time to getting back to it :)

I use a Nikon 40D. I usually just shoot in Auto mode because I have no idea what all those settings are for in Manual mode

:o

no matter what camera you use, you should always have your camera tripod mounted... that will allow you to get the sharpest images.

from there, the more things you control manually, the more likely you are to get exactly that image you want -- once you learn what the settings do :)

here is a sample shot I took into the tank this morning... nothing in it yet but a couple of snails, its just finishing up cycling and starting go grow algae
