What types of cameras do you guys use ?
I have a small digital, would like to get an SLR.
Don't want to overspend and have bells and whistles I'll never use.

I use a nikon d-40 takes good pictures imo.

When it comes to SLR or DSLR, its just as important to look into a lens as it is the camera itself. I have a Nikon D200 w/ a Tamron 18-200 f/3.5 lens that I just can't get a good picture of close ups. Doesn't do well with macro. I get better results from a Canon SD1000 (?) point and shoot. Kreeger, what lens do you use.

I was taking pictures last night of my tank and dropped my Nikon CoolPix in a bucket of water I had next to the tank. Needless to say, it doesn't work any more. I'm looking at getting a the D-40 also.

bummer...might be able to get it fixed at a small camera shop for fairly cheap....they will just take it apart and dry it...not sure what steps you took, but take out the battery and just let it dry for a couple days...Campus Camera in Kent is a really nice place to get your camera. They are very knowledgeable, a great in store warranty, and very good prices.

OUCH!!! two words for you that won't help now but may help later ... WRIST STRAP.

Good luck on your search.
