Can a Mag pump break when thrown?

My mailman likes to throw my packages, when they won't fit in the mailbox, out the window of his car to my door. My new Mag 9.5 pump suffered this fate today. I could actually hear the package hit the ground from inside the house. Is there anything delicate inside the pump that could break? It was packaged pretty well, but the packing peanuts were not underneath the pump box itself. I think it hit the ground bottom first.

I really have to do something about this! :furious:

I would go down to the post office and file a complaint regardless if it's broken or not. A mailman shouldn't be throwing packges out his window, especially if they are fairly heavy...

Get him on camera when your are expecting a package, if he is to lazy to leave his vehicle to place a package at your door then thats his own fault.

That is completely unacceptable, be sure to take pictures of the package and report him. When I first got into this hobby, and the wonderful world of ordering tons of package online, I had a problem with our ups guy doing the same thing, after a few pictures of the packages, i never saw him again. I also haven't had a package delivered in less than pristine condition.

I sure hope the shaft isn't broken. I was going to leave him a letter in the mailbox the other day (I like to give someone a chance before I complain to their boss), but then didn't do that when he and a passenger (wife? girlfriend) got out and walked a package to my door. I thought he had changed his habits.

I probably did everything wrong by now if I need to file a claim. I was going to photograph the packages where they lay, including a dented corner of the box. Now I'm in kind of a hurry to run an errand and don't want to have to figure out how to take apart a Mag pump.

Can I ask for a vote? Note, or boss? I kind of don't want to p*ss off the mailman, or cause him to lose his job right before Christmas. On the other hand...

he won't lose his job. Mailmen rarely ever get fired....unless they do something drastic then they go postal. I would file a complaint personally. If he's throwing packages at your doorstep, the chances of him doing it to other houses is highly probable.

not to hijack the thread but i just dropped my mag 12 on the concrete and busted the corner of the case. does anyone know where i can order a new case?

No worry about hijacking! Does it still work?

Incidentally, I decided to go the route of leaving a note for the mailman. I think it will solve the problem - if not, well, I'll have no problem meeting the postmaster (armed with action photos).

i am pretty sure mag pumps are encassed in resin and the plastic on the outside is just for looks.someone else chime in if i am wrong

thats what i was told...so far so good! i would love to replace just for piece of mind.

Might be a dumb question, but you are certain the broken piece is a removable part? I'm wondering if maybe they inject the resin into the case, and it permanently adheres to it...

+1 If he gets fired which I highly doubt he will than that's his own fault. I wouldn't feel bad at all to see him kicked the curb. He made his choice now suffer the consequences. You spent good money for that why should you and or the other company endures the loss because he is a lazy slug?

Frankly, worse happened to your pump long before you saw the box. Beginning with the delivery from the manufacturer to the distributor, then the delivery from the distributor to the reseller, then the delivery to your mailman.

just because the item has seen rough handling through out the whole process from mfg to his door step dosen't excuse the poor attitude/work ethic of public servant

Unless of course he does go postal and shows up at your door with a bazooka for getting him fired.

It's hard to disagree with that, I'll admit...especially since he's a habitual tosser!

I think you are likely right - but I know about this abuse....

So true.

Unless of course he does go postal and shows up at your door with a bazooka for getting him fired.

Well, this thought had occurred to me. Human beings do unpredictable things, particularly when they are stressed about relationships and jobs. Besides, would I ever get my tax papers on time?

Sheesh!! That is crazy! Get one of those cameras people use to photograph animals in the wild. They take consecutive pix when motion triggered.

No wonder the USPS lost $8.5Billion this past year!!!
