Can Aiptasia sting GSP?

I got a frag of GSP from eBay delivered but its been 5 days now since acclimation and it still hasn't shown any polyp extension. All params are good and others corals are doing great! I decided to take out the GSP and inspect it and when I turned it around, there were 2 Aiptasia sticking from the underside of the GSP. Could this have been the problem? Was the Aiptasia sting the coral? I don't really feel comfortable putting lemon juice or other means of getting the aiptasia off so I decided to hack as much of it off as possible and superglued over the areas and returned the GSP. Should it recover? It's nice and firm still but since it arrived its been very pale in colour. Thanks for any replys!

Aptasia could certainly sting the GSP. But there were a lot of things happening to the coral at the same time: shipping, acclimation to new water parameters and lighting. In my experience, GSP are pretty hardy. I would just make sure that the flow and lighting is appropriate and then wait and see.

Yes aptasia can sting almost anything. I agree with above as it may just still be acclimating to the tank. The super glue should have done the trick and the GSP is a pretty hardy coral so jus give it some time. As long as it still has the purple color to it and the base is not flaking off or disappearing its probably just adapting from the trip and to the new environment.

Thanks but that is what is concerning me, the coral isn't purple but is white/pink colour and that's the colour it was when it arrived. I hope it pulls through since I can't get anymore coral until June now as I've already bought 3 other large corals and 12 hermit crabs this month haha.

Also, just checked on it now, it still looking very very grim but I can just about see something, I think it's that damn aiptasia again...

As long as it doesn't disentrigrate I will most likely pull through they are pretty tough. The other corals are doing good. Your parameters are still in check? Just wait it out it's all you can really do

So a quick update, the coral has been removed from the rubble rock it was on and is now just resting on the frag rack. Today, before lights on but in the morning ( direct ) sun, it has 2 polyps out! Thanks guys for your help. Il keep you posted

My GSP's are sticklers. If I run low on water and the tank goes bubbly on them, they will produce a shiny slime coat and cover themselves up for a few days. They also do this when mishandled or shipping. It may take 3-5 days in optimal water conditions and longer in bad water before they even reopen. I've gotten quite use to it. As long as you see the buds on the mat,they should be fine. It annoys me though, I have this huge beautiful mat in front of my tank when they open but when they close up because I had to work in the tank they make my tank look ugly for a few days lol.

5 polyps open now. The "tentacles" are short and small but I guess that's because the frag is small too. Does anyone know how to promote them to grow longer? Ty

Kalk paste or inject the aiptasia to kill it, it will kill anything it touches
