Wellsophyllia radiata

This genus is monotypic. All such open brains are Trachyphyllia geoffroyi. T. radiata and Wellsophyllia radiata are invalid. Wellsophyllia is an obselete name for this species, and is no longer used, according to Julian Sprung, and Martin Moe.

Affan, I just had an argument today over this - there is such huge difference in skeletal structure from "wellsophillia" and trachyphillia - anyone can tell what used to be called a wellsophillia from a Trachyphyllia. I am confused why this would be monotypic, wellsophillia having an almost level bottom, and trachyphyllia having the cone shaped base.
