Can anyone ID this?

Hello All,

I am new to the forum but must say I love this place and have been lurking for months. I currently only have a couple small corals but have jumped to a 75 gallon tank/sump.

Anyway, can anyone help me and my wife identify this red twig looking coral (if its a coral)? It grew naturally and we would love to know what it is. Thanks for any help possible!

Appears to be a red macro algae. Is it slow growing? If so, it might make a very decorative addition to your aquarium while it sucks up some excess nutrients. Try to keep it isolated. Do you have Tangs or Rabbitfish?

Thanks that sounds about right. I just bought a yellow Tang tonight so hopefully I can keep him uninterested in it. Thanks for the response. This hobby is soo much better with a strong community like RC.

Unfortunately, most tangs love eating live algae. I feed mine algae from my refugium as a treat every once in a while.
