Can anyone identify this growth on the bottom of my chalice that died?

Hello all,

I am new to keeping corals in my aquarium, I purchased a chalice from my LFS and quarantined it for 3 weeks prior to introducing it to my DT. After 2 weeks I noticed it started to recede after getting some substrate on it, after that it was completely gone after another 18 days. I fragged it as a last resort to try to save a piece, my question is, one of the frags I put into QT has mysterious growths on the underside. Can anyone tell me what they are? I am trying to see if it caused the decline on this coral or if it may be something I need to be concerned with in my DT since I removed it from there and moved it to QT. I did dip the coral in Seachem Coral dip after fragging, this would have survived that. The Xenia, Goni, and Monti I have in my DT are all doing great.. any help is appreciated!

thanks,
Pete

Top left is definitely pineapple sponge. The scattered growth to the bottom right looks like a form of sponge as well. Its not the cause of its death. Most of my chalices have sponges growing under all of them without any issues.
Did it start to decline in the QT or after you placed it in the DT? Where did you have the chalice located in the tank?
What kind of lighting and flow do you have and how are your parameters?
