Got this today but wasn't sure on exactly what I have here.

My guess would be a colt coral. (Cladiella or Klyxum)

I bought something like that once... Was told by LFS it was a spaghetti coral... Turned out that under my lights it opened up into a Kenya tree

IME, colt corals always seem to be slimy to the touch. While kenya trees are somewhat abrasive. Other than that, just countless comparisons online. HTH

So I had a colt then... OK... My LFS told someone today that they were kenyas... Lol. He don't know either I guess.

The names are often interchangeable. Ideally, it would be a cloak described. In reality, it is whatever label the store wants to slap on it. Kenya, Colt, Tree Coral. Even more ideally, we'd go by species name but that is even more of nightmare then narrowing down common names.

The colt coral is a cla diella species. The kenya tree is capnella sp. Cladiella are more autotrophic; need more light than capnella. which draw some organics from the water rcolumn and are less dependent on light.

Good to know.... I noticed it really reacted to available light by changing size and color.

Colt coral will be slimy and the kenya tree are not slimy when u touch it.

right side 1/3rd of the way in... purple coral is a Kenya tree.. and just below it is a colt...

kenya tree is morely grey under white light when its closed.. when its open its white with brown polyps
