I need a sump for a 55 and am having no luck....sizes of old wet/dry are not long enough and tanks are too wide. It cannot be wider than 11 inches. If you can work with acrylic or glass and help me out, let me know.
thanks, Andy

Contact Paul at First Class Aquatics. He made me an awsome frag tank. http://www.firstclassaquatics.com/

Also contact larry (summer) from RC he does custom acrylic affordably out of his basement. Havn't seen him post for a while.

I have a hand me down rather impressive, robust and rather large beckett style PM bullet3 knock-off skimmer that is of Larry Summers production. Overall it's very apparent he knows a thing or two. And not sure I could do any better.

However, making the base plumb so that it sat flat and did not rock back and forth would have helped. But some silicone bead completely around and under the base and hand leveling with a 360 post level should correct this issue with the given footprint. It just amazed me with all of the attention to detail on the skimmer that the box rocks back and forth due to base not being glued and clamped in a perfectly flat space during fabricaion to insure the base was as square and plumb as possible. Thereby making a level peice at the finished product. An out of level issue due to 2 high corners causing a rocking back and forth on an acrylic tank...well. Something that 400lbs or 300lbs of a 40/30 gallon sump respectivly would not handle well. It's probably not a factor of concern with the skimmer and I am sure this skimmer will serve me well. But a frag or sump with the aforementioned imperfection may not be so good.
