Hey everyone I'm planning on introducing more fish in my 55 gallon reef tank. I have 2 bonded clownfish (percs), 2 mated gobies, 2 peppermint shrimp and a possum wrasse.

I want to add 2 maybe a few more fish that are not nocturnal like ..pretty much everyone in my tank cept my clowns.

Please do recommend me inverts, snails also and the reason why I should get that fish please.

Thanks! (:

Gobiodons are nice little buggers sitting on everything in tank, but they nip on acros.
And standard ones like Royal Gramma, Green Chromis, Pterapogon, mby school of Apogons.
But not all of these are big enough to eat mysis sized food.

I would suggest to google "thiel nano" and read that book for inspiration and tricks.

A shoal of chromis seems like a good option, maybe around 9? Would be fun to watch them in a 1:2:3:2:1 formation.

And I'll def. read up on that book thanks

9 chromis additionally for a 55g tank? seriously? in my opinion, your tank is stocked well for its size. you could add a very small dwarf angel fish, like a coral beauty if it fits to your coral inhabitants.

It abides with the inch per gallon rule when adults; but you're right that will make it way overstocked now that I had my cup of coffee haha.

also, with a bonded pair of clowns, they really will defend about 50g of territory...so you may have some issues initially introducing new fish.

check the fish purchase\stocking thread first...it really will help you.

+1 for the chromis's i donno about 9 but from what i've read odd numbers are better. i have 4 in my 75 gal(had 5 one disapiered after hiding for a few days i thing he became peppermint/hermit food)

ive got a pair of perculas in my 50g and they stay in their anemone all the time. their territory is about the size of a 5g tank, so no fighting for me. they do defend it though, but ive had no problems with sleeper gobies, bristletail filefish, banggai cardinals or sixline wrasses with my pair of clowns.

I was going to say Yasha Goby with a pistol shrimp but see you already have a goby pair. Curious - what species of mated pair goby do you have?

I have a pair of sleeperhead gobies. One is significantly bigger than the other and they are always together.

I was going to get rid of em but they get along too well with themselves and my other fish.
It's really annoying that they toss sand all over my rocks and corals. I just might get rid of most my corals just for them.

(Oh and still undecided about what fish :/ I need examples of why I should get the certain fish)

I likee to keep fish in pair or breeding group. In a 55, you need small fish that are mild in manner. Sleeperhead gobies are entertaining but they do stir up the sand too much. I use a DSB so often try to avoid them. Orchid dottyback are beautiful, bright purple. You can get them to breed in your aquarium.
Other fish that will do well are the smaller shrimp gobies with their shrimp. Yellowhead Jawfish. These are beautiful, will not outgrow your tank, and will do well in your aquarium. Another fish you should consider are Royal Gramma. I would keep 3 in a 55 gal. Make sure you get only one (or no male) The males will fight to the death, even in a 450 g tank like mine. The most dominant fish of the group will become male very quickly (days). Often when LFS keep single male in their store for a few days or a week. These should be avoid because they almost always turned to male and will fight when you get them together.
Flame, Fireball, Fameback or Argi (Cherub) angels are always nice but small angel in a tank, there are always possibility of coral pickers. Great information on Pygmy angels can be found here:

Why do I like them (all the fish above)? They are small, beautiful and will do well in a small reeftank. Please don't put all of them in but just 3-4 more fish to your tank only.

Wow thanks for the time put in that. Am I crazy for thinking of removing all of my LR just to get rid of my sleepers? I only have my sebae anemone and some softies and one SPS coral but moved them to locations it wouldn't get clogged by the sandsifters.

In the future when my tank is mature-mature I'm planning on fully syocking my tank with mixed corals.

I also need to get rid of my peppermint shrimp because they pick at everything and literally try to eat my sebae but my cleaner shrimp scare them away.

I will attempt to trade in one of my designer clownfish hopefully for a pair of dottys- they look great.

in a 55, it is really easy to just remove all the rock, catch the fish then put it all back all in 1-2 hrs.
I don't think you have a peppermint shrimp. I think you got a camel shrimp instead. They are bad news in a reef. Peppermint are fine in a reef and will not bother any coral or anemone.

I 100% have 4 true pepps, it's just that one shrimp though that keeps harassing my sebae. I'll keep a close watch
