can clams be kept in a BB reef?

Most people recommend putting it on a thin, flat rock or something so that the clam has something to attach to besides the starboard...that way you can move it in the future if need or whim arises. Croceas and maximas actually supposedly prefer to have rock to attach to...having a solid attachment has also been suspected to help prevent critters from entering through the basal opening and cuasing problems

I have a crocea and a Hippo clam in my starboard tank. But are on the rocks. H. Hippo. also dosen't really use it's byssal threads so you may want to get on of those.

In theory clams can be on starboard but It would be a pain in the @$$ to remove one from starboard.

Croceas prefer to bore into a rock so I dont think they would even care if the thank is BB. If the crocea is on th ebottom of the tank, it would prefer BB to a deep sand bed ;)
