Can dead rock become live?

I have about 200lbs of fiji live rock that has been dry for 2 years

Im setting up the new tank If i put them in there Will the regain their colors? and become live?

Yes it can become live Live Rock. Not all rock was dead at some point, Some comes right from the ocean. BUT if you add some dead rock to other live rock, the dead rock will become live. Its just a mater of time & things will start to grow on the dead rock. This will take some time but YES it will be fine.

a lot of people use only dried up rock..... avoiding any unwanted hitchhikers, I think this is actually a good idea if you're starting a new tank.

Except when the hitch hiker eats all of your pretty fish and or corals...

I'm so torn between getting Eco Rocks and live rock :). I definitely want some of the hitchhikers as my brothers tank has some really cool little animals like feather dusters and some weird inverts that come out at night. I think I'll pry mix both kinds of rock and cross my fingers I don't get things like bristle worms or aptasia.

I am loading my new 180 with all homemade rock. I am getting my bugs from friend's tank's cheato. I already have pods and feather dusters, and worms in the tank.
