Can Derasa clams be placed on rockwork?

For some reason I thought they had to be placed on the sandbed but now I am hearing from a LFS that I can place them on rockworck if I need to get them closer to the light. So is it okay to do this with this type of clam?

you can put them in the rocks if you need to
