I have 2 ocellaris clowns (6 months old) which they EACH have their own BTA. I am itching to buy 2 picasso clowns. Can I add this to the tank or will it be hectic?

My tank is 75g with 20gal sump and 5gal fuge.

I know alot will say no but I am curious to see what percentage had a success with 4+ clowns in their tank..

thanks!

I think you're going to have problems with the two clowns you have now. If they both have their own anemone, and territory, they may both mature into females. Females don't typically get along very well.

If you have another tank set up and running, you could try this little experiment. If you don't have another tank you could move a stressed fish into, at a moments notice, my answer to your question would be no. I'm all for experimenting and pushing the boundaries of what can and can not be accomplished, but only if the proper safety precautions are in place. If a fish is getting beat up, it may not survive until tomorrow evening when you have time to run it back to the LFS, or across town to a friends tank. You will need to be prepared to intervene before problems arise.
Just my 2 cents.

Yea +1 dont do it, at least not for long term.

I just did the same thing in my 100g with the same clowns.

My occis i have had for about 2 years and i added a piccaso pair(because i got new fish to put im my QT tank) while their new home was finishing cycling. The Occi female would swim to the opposite side to make sure the picassos didnt leave the corner she forced them in.

The picassos were super stressed and these 2 Occis have never shown aggression to any of my other fish.

Awesome... thanks for the advise. The only reason why I got a 2nd anemone is because when I was transfering from my nano to my 75g tank I only transfered 1 clown in the new tank with a new bta (i know stupid!) But when I transfered the 2nd clown she kicked out my first clown and I felt sorry and bought a 2nd nem a couple of months after that...

Should I take away 1 nem so they can pair up?

......Or you could just add 2 clown fish. As a matter of fact add 4. I have a tank that has 25 clown fish in it. They were added 2 at a time after the first 3. Only a couple ever fought, the rest just got more nestled into their anemones. (I have 21 anemones in my tank). After about 3 days they all just went on their marry way. I have at least 6 females in my tank. No problems for 9 months.

Good luck and have fun!
