Can I add a clown?

I have a black and white oscellaris clownfish. It's been alone in it's own tank with 2 bangaii babies for months, so I'm pretty sure it's morphed into a female by now. how can you tell and could you add another black and white to tank or no? What exactly does it take to make clowns a mated pair?

As long as the new one is smaller there shouldn't be a problem. May be a little hostility at first but it should work out.

Oscillaris clowns are about the easiest clowns to pair up. Like already said just make sure to get a smaller one. There may be a little aggression towards one another at first. But hang in there and they will come around and pair up. BTW the females are the larger ones, about 3". The males stay smaller, about half the size of the girls.

after pairing up, how hard is it to get them to mate? Should they be in a tank of their own?

I have a mated pair of orange and white ones in my 120. The B&W I have lives in my nano. The orange ones picked on her so bad that I have to give her a tank of her own. Aside from the bangaii babies and a few corals, there's nothing else in there. The orange ones have never mated, but are paired up. I'm assuming the other inhabitants of the tank are preventing them from feeling comfortable enough to lay eggs.

...what? Can't possibly be a mated pair if they've never spawned.

Plenty of clownfish, especially ocellaris, spawn in community reefs. Unless you are housing them overly aggressive tankmates it's just a matter of when/if they feel like it. They may never spawn for you, or they may start next week.
