Can i add any more fish?

Hello everyone.

I have an 8 gal cube tank with a hob filter.

I currently have 3kgs of live rock, 5 colonies of zoas, a 4 head hammer coral, and a tiny mushroom.

I have 1 Clarkii clown in there. I really want to add another clown but will that be too much for the tank to handle?

I don't think I'd do a second clown. If anything I would get a small goby.

I do a like a 15% water change every week and there is a protein skimmer in my hob filter. And i have lots of rocks in there so maybe the bacteria can consume all of the ammonia produced, dont you think?

It has absolutely nothing to do with ammonia produced, it has everything to do with space. 8 gallons is not space enough for two clowns.

It is not about all the equipment that one has for filtration. The tank itself is just to small. I personally would not have a clown in that size tank. Maybe a goby by itself but most likely all I would have is some inverts. Ultimately it is your tank and your choice as to what you add.

More than likely neither of those would mix well with a Clarkii, especially in such a small tank. It is generally not recommended to mix clown species, beyond true/false percs.

I have had a 10 gallon with a pair of clowns. But if you want two you have to get them together and when they are juveniles. This is when they haven't determined who would be the female yet. But I did have to sell them once they got to big.

So if i want any of the species i like i need to get them when they are juveniles... So until i find 2 of the same species that are juveniles, i gotta stick with my clarkii..

Clarkii was probably the wrong choice for an 8g tank. I think you could do 2 percs or occs if you didn't have the clarkii. Definitely can't mix species in a tank that size.

I'd say yes because I don't think 8 gallons is big enough for any pair of clowns.

Naw. You always have a choice.

Clarkii clowns get to about six inches, and are mean sons of guns. It will almost certainly kill any tank mates.

I would switch it out for something else. Of course options are very limited in an 8 gal.

I would not in this sized tank. LA lists 30 gal minimum on even the smallest species of clowns, tank raised occelaris.

I would think about getting a bigger tank if you want to keep multiple fish.
