Can I break of frogspawn branch with bare hand?

I have a hugh green frogspawn the size of a vollyball. some of the branches facing the light are doing well. The branches facing down only open half way. I want to break them off to place them facing the light. The branches are 1/2 inches in diameter. Can I just break them off with my bare hands? A few months ago, I saw someone cut coral branches using something that looks like a big toe nail cutter. Do you know where I can buy one?

I've broken frogspawn with my hands but you can get coral fragging tools from premium aquatics.

You also risk splintering it, which would kill the head. Best thing is a dremel cutting blade. If you plan to do a lot of this, that is a good investment: check a pawn shop. It's a primo father's day gift, and not one everyone will find a use for. Bone-cutters [medical] will do it. So will rose-cutters, from the garden shop. DON't use ones from the garden: you don't know where they've been.

I break it by hand every time. Never had a bad break.
