Can I do this?

I am bored with my 2 yr old 29gl reef tank. I could spend a couple of hundred dollars to upgrade the lighting and continue to build on it as a reef, BUT for many yrs I have wanted an octopus. I have other reef tanks up and running so I am willing to change this one.
Now I see that owning a small octopus is possible so I am wanting to revamp this reef tank and make it into a Bimac tank.

My ideas would be to remove the corals to other tanks.
Remove the fish and cleaner shrimp to other tanks.
Remove excess LR and rearrange what I keep.
Slowly drop the temp of the tank.
Increase salt level to 102.5
Upgrade filtration to a fluval and replace the skimmer being it has been a skimmerless tank.
Now, I was wondering if I can just leave the DSB since it has a nice stock of mini-stars, serpeant stars, and the usual pods.
Is this feasible or should I as well work at removing the sand bed and replace it with a thin layer of fine sand?
Of course I would allow all water parameters to readjust to all of these changes and test before adding a Bimac.

So is this a workable plan, or should I be looking at starting from scratch? And any advise with the DSB I have?

Thanks a bunch :D

I don't keep bimacs, but I have had a lot of other species and I don't think the DSB will be a problem. Others probably have had more experience with this.

I am a bit confused by your salinity target. What is 102.5? I assume you mean 1.025 as a specific gravity measure. Just remember that specific gravity changes with temperature, so be sure to consult a table for the correct reading.

LOL yes I meant to say 1.025. Sry 'bout that. I will be doing the readjusting of everything slowly so I don't shock the sandbed life. And testing as I go. Thanks for the help with this.
