can i feed my puffers.....????

can i feed my puffers freshwarter crawdads? my son often finds them at a creek near our house....and if so, should i just put them in alive?
 
mine eats anything dead or alive. I have heard that diseases do not transfer from fresh to salt so you should be ok.
 
and yes on the alive question he will probably catch them before they hit the bottom. What kind is he and can you post pics?

I hate to be one of those posters, but you should read up on that stars and stripes he's gonna out grow that 150 by a lot. Either way those are good looking fish
 
no you should not feed your puffer anything you catch in fresh water .# 1 no fw species makes a good dietary supplement for sw fish as their diet is very much different.
#2 if the crayfish is subjected to pollutants(such as oils ) from the water you may contaminate your whole tank or worse your puffer.
