I have been contimplating moving from the current 29gal sump i have to a 40gal long tank. The tank is 48"long and 13" wide. My stand has an opening of 22.5inches and is 19.5inches to the back.(depth) I spent some time on the phone today with a friend who is a mechanical engineer and he seems to believe that it won't fit but i wanted to see if anyone has run into this situation that could give me some advice before i go cutting open my stand so i can fit the sump in straight on.

Joebo will you have to cut any braceing?is there enough room to work in the sump if it goes in?i had a 40 under mine and it held water real good but would dislocate my shoulder if i had to do any thing, my solution was simple i went to the glass shop and ordered glass 12 '' tall but wider so gallonage wasnt that different good luck

I should have plenty of room to work. My cabinet is 36" tall so it should not be a problem to get around in there. I will not be cutting any bracing if i have to rip it open. I am planning on just cuttin open the end so i can just slide the sump in if it comes to that but i do not want to refabricate the stand if i can slide it in through the doors. The main thing i am looking to see is if the 40gal will fit without cutting open the stand. I am sure there is some simple math to that answer i just don't know it.

That is the plan bassnman11. I came up with that thought after i spent 2 hours on the phone trying to remember calcalus
