i have a 14 gallon biocube that has been running for 5 months... i have 2 false clowns, 1 small coral beauty angel (when it gets bigger im giving it to my friend with a 110 gallon), one plate coral, 1 cleaner shrimp, and a few snails and hermits.... oh yeah! and a 1/2 inch horseshoe crab, which i needed for a few weeks to clean up my sand bed and then hes going to the ocean to be set free!!! (i live in key west)

my lighting :

2 compact fluorescent lamps: 1 - 24 watt 10,000K & 1 - 24 watt Actinic 03

2- 3/4 watt Blue LED moon lights + lunar blue moon glow LED lamps

my flow:
140 GPH Submersible Pump

yes you can put a small bubble in there they like to be fed meaty foods every now & then. I have a bubble in my 300gl it is the oldest coral I have about 7 or 8 years old. I have fraged it a few times.i started out in a 30gl I had it then my very first coral. check my gallery for pics.

It's illegal to release animals into the wild in almost every state...I'd highly recommend selling it or giving it to another aquarist to avoid potential problems.

what?? illegal to put it in the ocean?? thats crazy ....... in my canal i have horseshoe crabs (TONS) parrot fish .. sponges , leather coral, snappers, baracuda, starfish, lobster, etc. .. . its like a living reef ! ITS GORGEOUS! but if not i will just give it to my local aquarium no worries

BTW just looked it up online...
"It is illegal to release any non-native species into Florida waters, but if there are infact species of the same kind in a quarter of a mile radius, you may release the native animal into the wild with proper acclimation."

Heads up: I don't have a bubble coral, but I think they have sweeper tentacles that can sting other corals they come in contact with. Sweepers can be quite long, and in a 14 I don't know if you'll be able to keep things far enough apart to avoid that.

Your fish, snails, crabs, etc. I don't think are bothered so much by this, but corals can be. Right now it looks like you only have a plate, so you may be able to keep them far enough apart, but it may be a problem if you want to add a few more things in the future.

Also - are you looking for something for your clowns to hang out in?

yeah .. but i cant keep an anemone because my tank hasnt been running long enough.. im not going to get the bubble coral then because i do want to put more things in there in the future! thanks for letting me know

You can try a toadstool leather, I'm sorry, I can't spell their scientific name :) People have had success with their clowns hosting those before. Ours hosted the magfloat for awhile ;)

Maybe you can do some zoanthids, they come in different varieties, and a toadstool leather.

Just some ideas. Good luck!

Yeah i would stay away from a bubble coral in a 14g, they are extremely aggressive. I wanted one, but my 30g is too small imo to really house one with enough room for their huge sweeper tentacles...

my bubble coral has no sweeper tentacles at least none that I have seen in prob, 7 years. if it touches another coral it will kill it back a wayse. the only thing I have to come in contact with it is some hairy zenya and it doesn't grow where they touch. it doesn't bother mushrooms tho they gorw together.

Personally I'd be really hesitant to release anything into the wild for fear of introducing parasites or diseases that may be in your tank that aren't native to the area and could cause damage. Maybe that's not a realistic fear, but something to consider.

It took us some time to see sweepers on our hammer (not nearly as long as you've had yours though), but we changed the flow a little bit and that seems to have helped. Our hammer doesn't like zoanthids or ricordia, and mushrooms are iffy.

You're right, those appear to be bubble corals.

It's not a matter of them not doing well, but protecting other corals, or at least minimizing the risk of damage, and that requires space. Their sweepers are quite powerful and can damage other corals on contact, this is why they're labeled as aggressive.

I have NEVER seen SWEEPER tenticles on my bubble only short feeder tenticle. It doesn't bother anything UNLESS you put it right up against it THEN it's best man wins. My bubble coral is prob. 14 to 18in. across the top. It took it probably6 to 7 years to get this big. It han NEVER killed another coral it will sting it I guess and stop it from growing but only where it touches it with the bubbles but it has never killed anything.

You, my friend, are quite lucky then. Most would agree that they need their space *in most cases.
