can i have 2 pairs in a tank?

Conventional wisdom says no.

Two females in one tank normally spells trouble. However there are exceptions to every rule. If you try it, be prepared to remove the new pair at the first sign of aggression. Female clowns can and will fight to the death.

please let me if it work i have a pair of true and wanted to add a pair of blacks also to my 180 my true stay on one side of the tank in the gbta was thinking of adding a rbta to the other side and a pair of black so let me know how it work for you

It's not the easiest combination of clowns to mix. Generally speaking the "rule" is not to mix clownfish. If you're not hell bent on the second pair being black you would probably have a much better chance of adding Clarkii clowns.

I've got this combo in my tank right now and have never seen any problem at all. They actually hang out together a lot of times and even stranger they will swim off in different pairs which amazes me every time I see them do this. It's like the ocellaris doesn't know the other one is a clarkii.

Mine however are all pretty small (1.25 to 1.5 inches) with the clarkies being slightly bigger then the ocellaris. Also worth noting, they say that clown fish get more aggressive with age so even though they get along fine now in my tank, doesn't mean they will in the future but I'm hoping they will be used to each other and "stay friends".

My tank is 120 and yours is bigger then mine so they will have space. I wouldn't try it in anything less then a 90 but that's only my oppinion.

I have to agree with cayars, that you both have pretty large tanks and may be able to get away with it. But you should be prepared to seperate them if there are any problems. I'd suggest adding them, and whatever they host move that to the othere side of the tank away from your first pair to prevent any fights.

I have a 75g and have 2 pairs of clownfish. One is ocellaris and the other are pink anemonefish. They get along great!

This is just my personal experience. I did not add them at the same time and the "2nd" ocellaris was replaced several times due to "disappering" problems.

Think long term. They seem to get more territorial the older they get. They're all good when they're young. :D
