My tank is 72 gal, and the water height is 1/2" below the top. It is an acrylic tank and thus it has brackets around the top, the brackets are about 3 inches wide each.
Will the water splash out or something?

Yes, you do not have enough room, I would assume the tank is 4ft long and generally the wave would be 3/4"-1"

im in for one as well rodger you have my address thanks if posssible can i get the extension for free as well

Well you are certainly the expert, the thing is that I saw some wavebox videos on youtube, from 72 gal systems. and tunze says the wavebox is from 50 gal tanks. So in order to use a wavebox you must have a lower overflow 2" below the top or what?.

So are you sure water will splash out?, I thought the wave could be adjusted.

It could be adusted but with a wave shorter than 1/2" the flow it provides is not useful or worth the expense. It can work on smaller tanks but the water level should be at least 1" from the top.
