Can I keep an LTA?

Fretfreak13

I am not a boy!
I'm liking a few that I'm seeing on DD, and I'm gonna have some Christmas spending money soon! I have no experience with them, I've never had any other nem besides BTAs or simple Flower Nems. My BTA decided to take the plunge into the powerhead, so my clowns are homeless. Think I could do a purple LTA?

lighting?
also do you know why the bta went into the power head? usually a bta moves because it's not happy with something(or a split is occuring) be it water params, lighting,or flow.
if you do decide to get it(i'm sure you know this) place it on the edge of the sand and a rock.

lol I put the lighting. Its 4x 24w Sundial Nova T5. The 30" fixture they offer.

Hm, I'm not sure actually why it moved. It has been in the same spot for a good six months. I didn't notice that it did until I found it in bits and pieces all over the tank, and I did quite a bit of big water changes after that. If there was something going on with the parameters beforehand, I missed it, but it's fine now with those water changes. All other creatures in the tank seem to be in check. Perhaps I'm needing new bulbs. I think I'll order some now, regardless.

We have both a BTA and a LTA. I like the long tube better. It looks really awesome when its all blown up. My BTA on the other hand is a weirdo. He likes to flip upside down for not obvious reason about once a month. My water parms never change and the lighting is great, I just think I got a funny BTA. My LTA stays in one spot. It took him about 2 days before he found his favorite spot. Which is on the bottom side of one of our LR. You really shouldnt have a problem with him, as long as you pick one out that is healthy. Also they look really weird when the deflate, dont let that scare you like it did us the first few days.

I've never kept an LTA, but they are sand-dwelling anemones and get quite large, so you might want to rethink getting bottom-dwelling fishes like mandarins and jawfish. There might not be enough room for them, at least for their safety.

I thought about that too, I sort of just wanted to hear someone else say it. I think I'll stick with the BTAs for that reason. This tank is meant to revolve around the mandarin. They're the reason I got into the hobby in the first place. lol

Thanks for the advise everyone. It seems I'll have to pass on the LTA until I get a larger tank.
